Short Bio

A mixed media artist drawn to different materials that help me convey my vision

Statement

Depth of field is important in photography and being able to work at it hands-on with wax and other materials creates a more intimate experience for me. This is one of the main reasons why I feel drawn to encaustics. The wax allows me to layer and provide depth to different parts of the artwork. It is a slow process and I feel connected and in the moment while working with the medium.

While growing up in Door County, WI I was introduced at a young age to the intrigue of vintage & antique items often left behind in a field or an old farmstead where the buildings still dotted the landscape. The patterns & textures provide visual inspiration for much of my work. One of the most intriguing parts for me is the story of why these items were left behind too slowly decay by the elements. As a mixed media artist as I am drawn to different materials that help me convey my vision and in doing so preserving history one more time.
